It blooms in late May to early June. The orange fruit is slightly flattened, round and large, 270-300 g, and can be picked from October to November. The fruit is soft, juicy and sweet, tastes like apricot, and smells of vanilla. It is suitable for fresh eating as well as for making compotes, jams and syrups. It requires well-draining soil with a loose structure, rich in nutrients. It needs plenty of light and is best planted in a sunny, warm, south-facing spot. Its water needs are moderate; young plants require regular watering. It can live for hundreds of years and is a striking element of the garden as an ornamental tree, especially in autumn with the interesting color of its crown, and after leaf fall it draws the eye with its orange fruits.
